the moment

I think I need to work harder to live in the moment. I was talking to my sister-in-law today about babies. She was saying how she plans on spending a lot of her time just holding her baby --she’s due in December. As we talked about it, I brought up a quote that used to hang on my mom’s wall:

“Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow, for babies grow up, we’ve learned to our sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby, and babies don’t keep.”

I’ve loved that quote as long as I could understand what it means. Yes, my floors need to be scrubbed, and YES, there are a million corners of my home that need to be dusted --but for this moment, my little baby needs me -even just to be cuddled and kissed. Thank you God for these tiny and incredibly significant miracles.

I love that quote!! My baby is 10 months, he is growing up too fast for me. Bryant is also loving Kindergarten, he is also growing up too fast. Take care of yourself and give your baby tons of hugs and kissed while you can. :)

I love that quote too! its hanging in Noah's room now. When Little B was born the house got messier cause spending time with your kids is the best thing in the world and sooner than you know it they will be teenagers!

What a beautiful thought! I'm discovering just how quickly these precious souls grow up. Hold your baby extra for me!

I have loved that quote too. Hold that baby while she's still small . . . Benji is now 30 lbs and 34 inches. It seems like just yesterday that he was my little peanut, and now he's so grown up! Same with my Ella-Boo! A Kindergartner? Good grief!!

I was given a little spoon rest with that saying on it around the time I had my first. And it went through my mind a million different times. Sometimes while I was 'dusting' and 'scrubbing', resulting in my feeling torn. Other times, though, it was when I was in the moment and loving my baby. It is a wonderful phrase to keep us focused on what really matters.

I love this quote too...I should make it mantra and read it every morning before I face the day.
