Starbucks!

This morning Lance came home with a Starbucks for me! He was making up for a bit of a bad reaction to his sleeping schedule yesterday. I know it’s not easy. He works from 10pm until 6am, then watches the girls (who tend to wake up between 6 and 7) until I get home –which is around 2 to 3 pm. Then he’ll go to bed, to be back up at 9. He doesn’t get an awful lot of alone time –and I KNOW that a person needs that here and there to stay sane! He does such a great job with the girls, and is generally satisfied with the situation as it is. Everyone has bad days, though. I understand how sometimes it would be GREAT to have a break, to not want to be a parent with a ton of responsibility heaped on your shoulders –even for just a few hours. Luckily, Lance is very good-natured, and his bad days are few and far between. Baby, thank you for working so hard for our family. Thank you for putting so much of yourself into parenting our girls all day and every day. I’m sorry that it gets frustrating, and I will work harder to be a better support to you as we stand by our decision to be the ones home with our children –even when it means fly-by-hi’s and good-byes for each other. This period in their lives is so short –they’re so young, and need us so much. It’s not easy, but we both know how important and rewarding it really is. Lance, thank you for being my partner in this journey.

This post really hits home, as we are in the same situation at our house. UB is currently on graves/cover shifts and is in the middle of an 11 day stretch with 0 days off and still has to be at court/gang meetings etc during the day. Make life a little difficult, but we are very lucky to have such wonderful men in our lives! It's awesome that you recognize how hard it is for Lance and can express your gratitude for the sacrifices he makes for your sweet family.
